and some comments i left

disqus is a site that provides a way to get and track comments on websites and as a commenter, i can find my comments i've left on those sites that use disqus... i forgot about that... here are the comments i've left on some sites... cuz as this site says here i list sites i saw (and sometimes, comments i left)... note that it would probably help to actually go to the site to read what i was commenting to or about, but if you want the comments somewhat out of context just cuz you love reading me that much (and love this sarcasm too), here they are:

The point is, as Twitter stated on their own website, Twitter was not following their protocol. They admitted their error and state it will not happen again. They came as close to an apology as anyone could without saying the words "We are sorry."

When a major communication medium, which is what Twitter has become, teams with a major media corporation, to try to silence legitimate criticism based on false testimony, that is an abuse of power that needs to be called out and addressed.

What is next, shutting down accounts of those who have opposing political views?

I am hoping NBC and Twitter show they have ethics and integrity and address the mistake - a public apology to Guy and Olympic fans and anyone offended by their unethical and possibly illegal action would be a sign they recognize how much public trust they could potentially lose.

Serious journalism needs trust or it becomes supermarket news. I think NBC cares about their reputation and they stained it with this move against a fellow journalist.

Twitter is just a way to connect with others. Your boy has a point, some do use it for ego and crap and trolling for attention and stalking, but there is a lot more to it than teens being teens.

For instance, if you want to know what is happened on almost any event, sports, news, etc - it will be on Twitter before it hits any mainstream media report. Many use twitter for information from organizations they support. Many use it for business as an instant messaging system or for free publicity.

There is a lot more to Twitter than the celebrity gossip most hear about. You tailor your "feed" to receive the information you want. I use "Lists" to create mini-magazines on various subjects and read when I have a little leisure time. I "follow" some friends and others who become my "feed", though if someone posts more than a few tweets a day, they go on lists so my "feed" doesn't get too many tweets.

I don't use it daily, but I check in when I want some information or humor or just to see what some celebs I enjoy are up to. You can see what I do with it here @candoor as an example

You miss the point that Twitter and NBC made themselves the story and the story is about censorship - if you do not understand how serious censorship is, you are at risk of losing your freedoms.

The answer is on the NBC website - all of their email addresses use the same suffix and the staff's full name separated by a period. Many corporations do the same, it makes IT management of email much simpler. Governments are much the same. This is obvious to those who email corporations, governments, or those who work in corporations or government. You can find a full page bio for Mr. Zenkel there too.

Definitely. He has a full page bio on the NBC website that includes"
“Gary is our great strategic thinker and a tremendous asset to NBC Universal and GE,” says Dick Ebersol, Chairman, NBC Universal Sports & Olympics. “He has kept us several steps ahead by constantly thinking of the future."

He is also a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, so he should have a legal understanding of the potential consequences of the attempted censorship.

Would you have turned down the telephone in favor of the pony express? Some people still don't have a computer or cell phone. We each choose to embrace or reject the next level of human communication for our own reasons.

Hardly - the media wants to interview a fellow reporter who could have a legal case against a major network and at the very least, is an example of an abuse of power that totalitarian governments use all the time (censorship). If you don't care how Twitter and NBC clean up the mess they made, you are not thinking about how freedoms can be taken away.

You missed the point and do not seem to have much understanding of the details of this story. Read a bit more and you may see things differently, unless you don't want to. Seriously, I am not attacking your words, just suggesting you look at the details of this situation rather than other possible situations for an understanding of the bigger picture.

NBC and MSNBC would like us to thin Fox News are the bad guys that resort to manipulation of news, propaganda, abuse of power, and censorship - this move shakes off the facade of noble integrity and honest reporting many thought NBC provided. Is this executive's ego worth the loss of public trust?

How about the simple choice/reason: "I like the name I chose for youtube"? A nickname offers an expansion on a person's identity, providing flair and an additional talking points to break the ice for communication. Shall we do away with Nicknames in life? There will always be people who abuse a system, cowards who hide behind masks because they do not have the conviction to believe in their own opinions and emotionally immature people who want to provoke or upset others. Emotional intelligence allows us to ignore them, especially in text online. To demand that all people line up and show their identity badges for all social occasions, however, is a repression of creativity and a paranoid requirement. - Ric Candor (candortube)

politicians who have millions of their own money to buy elections should serve their country for free... set a mark, politician's salaries should allow their total income to reach $200,000 and no higher... anyone earning $200,000 on their own works for the people for free... radical thought or true patriotism, will your heart or your mind or your wallet decide?... it might sort out some of those who go into politics for the wrong reasons...

that makes no sense... every death at Disney becomes national, even international news and you can count them on one hand... millions of people pass through the place every year... show me any city of a million people with fewer deaths - or even less than a hundred times the number... more people are killed in home accidents, car accidents, crossing the steet, even airplane crashes than at theme parks... if we looked it up, we might find more people are killed sneezing than at theme parks each year... think about percentages, not noteriety or personal animosity when you make a blanket statement and you might understand what makes any place the deadliest place on earth...

had you deleted your diaryland link to this i might never have been moved as much as i am at this moment, i might never have been touched so deeply, i might never have been inspired so intensely, i might never have felt so much, so many profound and powerful emotions, so personally, so important to me... i might never have found these words that i've so longed to read for a lifetime... and so now i imagine these words were written by someone else, someone i knew in the flesh, someone who meant the world to me and in many ways, still does... oh, how we know we cannot reqind a life, we cannot go back to fix the past or rebuild what has crumbled or remake the love we made, or almost made, or should have made... but oh, how we sometimes wish we could... thank you for the spark you once again provide... please continue as you do and more, continue to grow and expand and be inspired to express yourself all the more....
